Yes!

These are the flowers your grandma used to grow.

We grow them in her memory.

Nine years ago

my son got married. In February. In New Jersey. Fortunately, our family has a florist in Pittsburgh and Brian and Carmel brought beautiful bouquets, boutonnières, and table arrangements in their van across country on one of the coldest weekends of the year. Their flowers were lovely.

Carmel sat beside my sister, Janice, at the dress rehearsal and told her that she and I should start flower farms. She claimed that locally-grown flowers were going to be as big as locally-grown vegetables and meats.

And so we did!

Janice started Backyard Blossoms on our family farm in Western New York, and I started in my backyard here in Howard County, Maryland. My husband, Jeff, helped me with plowing, installing fencing and drip line.

I come from a long line of gardeners (and grandmas). Grammy Mc. would supply the church with bouquets every Sunday. Grandma G. loved the bright marigolds and monster sunflowers as her vision was impaired. I’ve grown a lot of veggies and flowers over the years, so growing ONLY flowers seemed like an easy next step.

Bupperts Farm Market in Eldersburg started taking my little cup bouquets in 2016 and I put up a tent at the Sykesville Farmers Market that summer. Nina (Patchwork Dahlias) and Patty (BeeHaven Flower Farm) joined in on the fun.

I now sell bouquets

and dahlias to all my friends in the Howard and Carroll county area.

You can find my bouquets locally at Bupperts in Eldersburg, Tidal Salt Co in Sykesville, and at the Sykesville Farmers Market.

Selling subscriptions is new to me but seems that folks really love having flowers on their tables on a weekly basis. So have a look at my new website and…
